Overview of the Training Hotel

  • The financial and administrative operations of the Training Hotel at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Helwan University are regulated by the provisions of its internal bylaw, considering it a Special-Purpose Unit with technical, financial, and administrative autonomy. Its establishment was approved by University Council Resolution No. (119) dated 30 June 1988, in accordance with Article (307) of the Executive Regulations of the Universities Organization Law, issued by Presidential Decree No. (809) of 1975, and in light of the Cabinet’s Resolution No. (232) issued in its session held on 8 March 2023.

Objectives of the Training Hotel

The Training Hotel at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels aims to support the University in fulfilling its academic, research, and community service mission through the following:

  • Designing and implementing training programs for both university members and external participants in the field of hotel management.
  • Conducting independent studies in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
  • Carrying out scientific research in tourism and hotel management, and establishing communication channels with business enterprises, companies, and governmental entities.
  • Providing various services and activities for university members and the broader community in the domain of hotel management.
  • Strengthening cultural and academic ties with other universities and scientific institutions at the Arab and international levels by organizing seminars, conferences, and workshops in various fields.

Duties of the Hotel Manager

The Hotel Manager is appointed from among the faculty members of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, or from individuals who possess the requisite technical and administrative competence in the field of hotel operations. The appointment is for a renewable one-year term, based on a decision issued by the Dean of the Faculty and he shall have the following authorities and responsibilities, within the framework of the applicable laws, regulations, decisions, and official circulars governing such matters:

  • Execute the decisions of the Board of Directors and the established policies, working to achieve the objectives of the Training Hotel.
  • Supervise the hotel and all its employees and allocate work among them to ensure the proper functioning of operations.
  • Propose the disbursement of bonuses and production incentives.
  • Propose the appointment of temporary workers and determine their wages.
  • Approve the prices of services prepared by the relevant department within the boundaries of the regulations set by the Board of Directors.
  • Submit periodic quarterly reports on the hotel’s operations to the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
  • Exercise the financial and administrative authorities granted to the department head by the applicable laws and general regulations.
  • Prepare an operating schedule, monitor production steps, and propose measures to increase production capacity, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Approve requests for the disbursement of raw materials, tools, and necessary equipment for operations.
  • Nominate faculty members and their assistants to be seconded for supervising hotel activities.
  • Prepare the hotel’s annual budget estimates.
  • Supervise the preparation of the final accounts and the financial position statement at the end of each fiscal year.
  • Prepare technical studies and performance evaluation reports for the center's key performance indicators and submit them to the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
  • Propose methods for securing, investing, managing, and utilizing the hotel’s financial resources.
  • Oversee the administrative and financial operations of the hotel.
  • Supervise the implementation of activities approved or adopted by the Board of Directors.
  • Propose staffing for the positions required by the hotel and obtain their approval from the Chairman of the Board of Directors or his deputy.
  • Supervise the duties and responsibilities of the hotel’s financial officer.
