4- The First "Science Day" Celebration for the Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector (Thursday, December 15, 2022 – Grand Hall, Faculty Hotel  Faculty of Tourism and Hotels – Helwan University)

Post graduate sector  seeks always for the academic excellence. It organized and launched its first "Science Day" celebration for the Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector .

The celebration was held under the generous sponsorship of  Prof. El-Sayed  Kandil, President of  Helwan University, and Prof. Mona Fouad, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research. It was led by Prof. Soha Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Dean of the Faculty. The event was held under the theme of:
"Education ... Is a Path for a Sustainable Future"

Honored Guests and Participants:

The Faculty proudly welcomed Prof. Mona Fouad, Vice President of  Helwan University  for Postgraduate Studies and Research, along with a distinguished group of deans, vice deans, heads of departments, and faculty members from tourism and hotel faculties and institutes across Egypt. Also, it was attended by  the " Head of Tourism and Hotel Sector Committee" in Egypt, the Assistant Secretary-General for Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector in  Helwan University (current and former ones), and several general directors  of administrative departments at Helwan University  including postgraduate studies, cultural relations, and  libraries.

Opening Ceremony:

The celebration began with welcoming speeches delivered by :

• Prof. Soha Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Dean of the Faculty
• Prof. Mona Fouad, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research of Helwan University

This was followed by the screening of a documentary film highlighting the activities of the Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector at the faculty.

Academic Session:

The scientific session of the celebration—consisting of two parts—was chaired by Prof. Hazem Atiyah Allah, Professor at Tourism Guidance Department , former Dean of the Faculty, former Vice President of Helwan University, former Cultural Counselor in Vienna, and former Governor of Fayoum.

Part One – Panel Discussion:

Featured a distinguished panel of industry professionals:

• Mr. Moataz Sedky, Vice Chair of the Tourism Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce, General Manager of Travco Holidays, and member of the Egyptian Travel Agents Association
• Mr. Mohamed Saeed, Operations Manager at Grand Nile Tower Hotel

Discussions focused on the mutual impact of scientific research and the tourism industry in Egypt.

Part Two – Research Presentations:

This part was  included eight postgraduate theses and research projects (Master and PhD these) granted  by the faculty’s departments and new programs. The research topics, objectives, findings, and recommendations were transformed through created  short videos, where each researcher gave a concise overview of his work through.  Each presentation was followed by comments delivered by  the supervising professors, emphasizing the research significance to the tourism industry in Egypt This innovative idea was implemented for the first time at the faculty as part of the Science Day celebration.

Closing Session:

The event concluded with a final session chaired by Prof. Wesal Abu Alam, Professor at Tourism Studies Department , former Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, former Director of the Quality Assurance Unit.

Recommendations emerged by  the forum, awards and  recognitions and event photos were shared during this session.

Awards and Recognition:

The awards were delivered and  Zoom application  was allowed for  participation from different countries where a number of Faculty staff  are working in.  The former  visiting professor from Oman , participated in this session through Zoom application.

Honorees included:

• Faculty members who published in indexed in Scopus or Web of Science (WoS)

• Faculty staff  contributing to scientific activities in the Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector, such as supervisors of the student (participating in doing researches and articles) involved in  student activity :  "The Library Magazine" which brings postgraduate and undergraduate students together  under supervising  of the Library Committee staff  to do scientific researches and articles .
• Assistant of General Secretary for Postgraduate Studies and Research (current and former)
• Head of  administrative departments from the university's postgraduate sector
• The organizing team of the event (Scientific Day) including faculty staff , teaching assistants, and students enrolled in  the undergraduate and  postgraduate programs

5- The Second "Science Day" Celebration for the Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector (Monday, January 22, 2024)

Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Management – Helwan University held its second Science Day celebration on Monday, January 22, 2024.

The celebration was honored by the sponsership and attendance of:

• Prof. Elsayed Kandil, President of Helwan University
• Prof. Emad Abu El-Dahab, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research of Helwan University
• Prof. Hossam Refai, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs
• Dr. Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities , Egypt.

The event also welcomed the presence of officials from university centers andentities, general departments, and academic support units, including:

• Members of the academic staff from various faculties

• The Assistant of General Secretary for Postgraduate Studies and Research

• Senior administrators from departments affiliated with the postgraduate sector

The celebration was further enriched by the attendance of esteemed guests from tourism and hotel faculties and institutes across Egypt, along with faculty members, teaching assistants and postgraduate students enrolled in  both traditional and new program of Helwan University.
